C&W Film Festival

Screening of Hitchcock's 'Vertigo'

On Friday 13th of September, Severndroog Castle will be host to the Charlton & Woolwich Free Film Festival, showing an outdoor screening of Hitchcock's classic film Vertigo.

We invite you to join us in the courtyard of the historic Severndroog Castle, the only place in the city you can enjoy a cocktail surrounded by ancient woodland and experience 360° views of London and its surrounding counties. Sit back, watch the sun slowly set and be thrilled by Hitchcock’s psychological thriller ‘Vertigo’ this Friday 13th.

This year, the Charlton & Woolwich Film Festival has chosen to screen ‘Vertigo’, a 1958 American film noir psychological thriller directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock. The story was based on the 1954 novel ‘D'entre les morts’ (From Among the Dead) by Boileau-Narcejac. The screenplay was written by Alec Coppel and Samuel A. Taylor.

The film screening will start at 20:00 and will take place outside in our courtyard. Entry to the film screening itself is FREE and seats are issued on a first come first served basis.

Food and drinks will be available to buy from Severndroog's partner The Terrace Tearoom. Their celebrated chef Christopher Hackett will be cooking up delicious food and cocktails, and providing wine and beer all evening.

The Castle's Tea Room and Viewing Platform will be open from 18:30 and tickets for the viewing platform are £6 + booking fee.

Severndroog is a tower built in the 18th century situated in the Oxleas Woods in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Built on Shooters Hill, one of the highest points in the city, the viewing platform boasts some of the most spectacular views in London.

A very limited amount of tickets are available for exclusive access to stunning twilight panoramic views of London from the viewing platform on top of the castle. Looking westward over the city on a clear day you can experience perfect sunsets.

If you simply wish to enjoy the film screening, entry is free and does not require pre-booking.
