Castle opening times

2023:

 

Viewing Platform and galleries open every Sunday extended until 3 December 2023 (weather dependent!).

 

10am - 3.15pm 

  

A visit to Severndroog Castle includes the castle rooms, and access to the Viewing Platform.

 

The Viewing Platform has a capacity of 10 people, so please be aware that you may need to queue at busy times.

 

The Viewing Platform may close in adverse weather.

Admission

*Concessionary admission applies to senior citizens, students (with a valid student ID card) and those in receipt of state benefit assistance.

 

**Family ticket available for groups of up to 5 (with a maximum of two adults).

 

***Annual Pass tickets are available for all ticket types and valid for repeated entry, free of additional charge for one year from date of purchase.

All proceeds from admissions are reinvested in the running of the Castle.

Facilities / Accessibility

Please note there is a spiral staircase and 86 steps to the top. We are a listed building so wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor (the Tearoom & WC) via a stair climber, which must be pre-booked. Please contact us for further details.

 

Limited parking is available at the Castle. Please be mindful of specified opening and closing times for entry gates to the car park.

 

Cyclists are welcome to lock their bikes against the railings.

Getting here

Road

A 20 minute drive from the M25. Leave at Junction 2 signposted for Central London and Lewisham and join the A2. Take the slip road off the A2 signposted Falconwood. Turn right at the end and follow the road to the next junction, turning right on to Welling Way. At the next junction turn left on to Shooters Hill. Go up and over Shooters Hill and take the first left after Craigholm. Look for our Brown Signs.

 

Bus

Take the 486 bus from North Greenwich or Bexleyheath or 89 bus Lewisham or Bexleyheath, alighting at the Memorial Hospital. 244 bus from Woolwich or Queen Elizabeth Hospital alighting at the Memorial Hospital on Shooters Hill.

 

Tube

Jubilee Line to North Greenwich, then 486 bus, alighting at the Memorial Hospital.

 

DLR

DLR to Woolwich Arsenal, then the 244 bus alighting at the Memorial Hospital.

 

Train

Network Southeast to Welling, then a 486 or 89 from bus stop D towards Shooters Hill. See above.
